BUSINESS OF FISHING:
A KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE PROGRAMME FOR FISHERMEN AND OTHER FISHERIES PROFESSIONALS
PROGRAMME
WHERE: Thainstone House, Aberdeenshire
WHEN: 14th – 16th May
WHAT: A unique chance for you to meet top-level fisheries scientists and managers in Scotland.
This unique 3-day workshop brought fishermen, scientists, managers, economists, policy-makers and the supply-chain together under one roof for three days of intensive discussion, debate and co-learning.
Situated in the inspiring surroundings of Thainstone House near Aberdeen, these groups worked together to build a common language and understanding of the issues in Scottish fisheries -from small-scale to large pelagic fisheries. The fishermen left with more confidence in the processes that support their fishery and the regulators left with a deeper understanding of the concerns and commitments of fishermen in regards to the sustainability of their industry.
We will be running the course again in 2020 (funding dependent) but in the meantime we aim to construct an online learning resource for all our Sustainable Fisheries Education Programme materials.
